PrivacyHawk automates much of the opt out process, but some are multistep and require action on your part to complete the request. We keep track of these required actions in the “Action Needed” section of the app.

You can view messages received, complete opt out forms, mark a request as completed if it has been completed, or cancel a request if you changed your mind. We will be automating more of these processes over time to reduce the amount of work you have to do.

When you respond back to a company and the opt out request is not complete, we move that item back into the Processing section of the app. That means you are waiting for the company to respond and there is no current action needed on your part at this time.

Sometimes a company will require you to fill out a form to process opt out requests. From within the messenger in the app, you can click on those links and fill out the form within the app for convenience.

You can also mark an item as “No Actions Needed at this Time,” which means the company responded, but there isn’t anything for you to do right now. That will move the item back into the processing section until the company emails you again.
